I was planing on the RC 4.5 lift for my 88, but saw on another forum that the 4.5 kit wouldn't work with the np242. Does anyone have any info on this or is anyone running this lift with the 242. Any info. you guy's can give would be greatly appreciated, I really like this lift.

I am not seeing the problem either. Must be minor.

I wouldn't put much stock in what I say
, but I've heard that the reason they say it only works with the NP231 is because that the 231 is the tcase it was designed with, but in fact it actually works fine with the NP242. They just say that for liability reasons. I am not sure if that is accurate though.

Actually the only reason they say it wont fit is because the 242 will not accept the SYE kit that is recomended for the 4.5" kit . I also have a 4.5" plus on mine with the 242 and have no issues at all the drive line in the rear will be 5/8" shorter than previously if useing springs or add a leaf , blocks it would not make a differance. And in all reality neather does being 5/8" shorter. If you are still concerned about it let me say that there are a few SYE kits available for the 242.

I had an 89' that i had over 6" lift with a 242. I bought the BDS Transfer case drop brakcets to lower the case. I also ran Daystar shackles, BDS 4.5 lift springs, and 1 1/2" angled lift blocks. I wheeled that jeep hard until I rolled it over in natural bridge kentucky in a dried up creek bed..I never had a vibration and never worried about the shaft falling out. Just ike Payless 4x said they make a SYE for the 242. I dont think you have any thing to worry about..
