    Many times Steve!

So more info, did not make it to work this morning, got most of the way there and could not get him to rev above 1k even with no load! Shut him down for a min started back up and was able to limp to work.

So I'm sure it's a fuel problem, now recently I deleted the carbon canister, and ran the tank vent directly to the evp solenoid, thought nothing about it, but pulled the gas cap off today and whoosh sucked in lots of air! So now I'm thinking connecting that the way I had it might be crating too much vacuum in the tank and some how compromising my fuel pressure or vapor licking the rail.

    Whatcha think???

You might be on to something there. Why done you stuff a rag in the filler and take it for a spin and see what happens

I unplugged the vacuum line so the tank is vented to air again. Helped but problem is still there. Was thinking fuel filter but it should be fine, there is one in the tank and one out side, last week when I was in the tank everything looked nice and clean.

Just have to see what the drive home brings I guess.

well the drive home went ok, still runs like above 3400, but now almost wants to power through it, will have to check fuel pressure when i can.

Yup now to decide what to do, new higher pressure pump? Are the filters bad? Did I bugger up my injectors?

    Sigh!

Dana, the stock pump puts out plenty of pressure, about 60psi I think or close to it. If it is weak, then a stock replacement should do the trick. However, one thing I would look at is total flow. Try taking your fuel line loose at the rail and flow into a can. It should be a nice steady stream

I think it was pushing 65 psi when I first got Mort running and tested everything, really the only reason to go aftermarket is because they are cheaper. Probably just Burt it out trying to overcome the vacuum. This pump came out of an old zj might just be old

Well I pulled the pump and gave the filters a cleaning, and Mort has all his power back. Filters looked nice and clean, but I thing the pump was bottoming out in the tank and limiting suction. No idea but at least he is drive-able again.

Hmmmmm. I may need to pull mine too. Not sure where that pump sits in my aftermarket tank. I am thinking it sits too high

What style of pump Steve? Mine is from a zj, has the 8" screw on ring and a spring loaded base.

I am not really sure. The tank was made here in Chico and came with the sending unit and fuel pump. I got it out of the pick and pull for 45, the price of the sending unit because they had punctured the tank. It is made of heavy steel so I just welded it up and was good to go. But I am not sure it is a stock sending unit. I think it is an aftermarket. No O ring needed with it. It has its own gasket incorporated with it

Dana, I really hate to say this, but Orange clashes with the yellow. Better give it to Jensen
