Default How to break a weld?

Hey everyone, I was at UPNP today and I saw an awesome set of rock sliders.
Only problem is they were welded on. No I looked at the welds and they are crappy welds but they are solid. Now at UPNP they wont let me take a torch into the yard. So without sitting there for 2 hours with a hammer and chisel, anyone got any ideas?

Cant take a grinder in the yard either. No electric or flame producing tools.

Hack saw the tubing to the frame. If they are welded to the seam on the unibody, forget it.

That is what I was thinking. It is only welded to the body at the mounting plates and 2 small plates added on by p.o. Might take a lil work and some sweat...... But hey Rockers for 30. Who can beat that.

Great. I would make a suggestion if I could. Don't try to cut the welds themselves. I can almost guarantee if it was done with a stick there will be slag in the welds and dull a hack saw blade in a minute. Cut near the welds and fill it in with another thickness of plate when you mount them. Good luck.

I spent about 5 min looking at it yesterday. I was thinking, cutting into the frame rails on both sides of plates 1 & 2. Them cutting through plates 3 & 4. The elementary school drawing may help a little.

Use a cutoff wheel on your air die grinder. You can carry portable air tank. Can you drive your vehicle in with a large cylinder of compressed air to run air tools?

he cant bring anything that makes sparks... best to get a battery powered reciprocating saw... IMO at least lol OR see if they can bring it to the front of the property where they let you do removals under supervision ... some pick a parts do that but not all , its a more controlled environment over concrete and fire extinguishers are everywhere and if it IS welded to the pinch seam just bend that sucker with a good pry bar it should break free after a few minutes
