I was just wondering how far any of you guys have ran with a bad lifter knock before KABLOOEY! I am going on 3000 miles with the sewing machiine noise now. My red sled has 135000 today!

mine has one at startup... goes away probly in 2-3 minutes

Mine does it when she come up to temp. I am using 20-50 to shut it up a bit. Still loud as heck.

I had one with a rod and lifter knock,... I gave up waiting for it to blow after 2 years
Lucus Oil is your friend,..
Now if its an auto make sure you dont have a cracked flexplate or a cracked header

The 4.0 often develop a piston slap noise as well. My old 4.0 motor had it...kinda sounded like a small diesel engine.
