Someone on another site said that neon trun signal switches will work on the XJ. Part #'s are not the same. can anyone verify?

    Hey 4x4Dalton, GREAT list!
The tip on the fill neck for closed radiator is great...most of the 80s and a lot of 90s XJs came with the all-metal radiator, readily available in the scrapyard. They are far more durable and resistant to "tank-popping" while wheeling, and they are usually of a higher coolant capacity than the stuff sold new. The biggest problem I've had is that they often don't have the filler neck, (std vs. auto maybe), but you solved that for me. Thanks!

The XJs used a Saginaw (GM) style steering column, with the actual switch mounted inside the jacket under the steering wheel lockplate. To my knowledge they DO NOT interchange with Neon, but they do with a wide variety of GM products. The stalk (or Handle) plugs into the windshield wiper switch and controls the TS switch via a slipper plate. When shopping be aware u will need to know what features you have, (cruise, intermittent wipers, etc.) and there will be some scary-looking disassembly required.

I would like to add a rear axel to the list. Mopar b body rear 8.75 from 68 and 69 is about an inch wider then a stock xj. The 67's might be right on as far as I can remember. Do some research. They are a sturdy diff. You have to do some welding, but you have to weld all but stock xj rears. Disc brake setups are not expensive. You only have to buy a bracket to mount stock gm parts. I have used these rears in higher horsepower cars without problems for years. I,m putting one in my xj. They are as common to mopar as the 9 in. is to ford. They were used in many cars and trucks from the 60's up. If you want more beef and dont need a 60 you can use a Mopar 9.25. They have a bigger center section like the 60 so that might be a problem for clearance. Posi units are not too expensive (yet). You might be able to shave and skid it (I was never conserned with ground clearance). I had one in a Ramcharger 440 4 speed and on 35's and beat the crap out of and never had a problem. They came in a bunch of cars and trucks from the mid 70's up.

The 97-02 TJ instrument cluster works with the 97+ XJ. Millage lives with cluster.

For the 97+ if you want an overhead console mix a Dodge Caravan's with a 96-98 ZJ

I think we should build upon this list and maybe even make a "shopping list" for members to download!

    Love the list!

PS: I too would love a conversion howto on a 97+ console massaged into a 96- Jeep. My '93 could use a better console!

From what i gather its not necessarily the added lb/hr but just the smoothness and efficiency of four holes instead of one that makes the system gain power and more economy.

This is going to require washers on each end as the joint/bushing on the JK arms aren't as wide as the XJ arms. It is unfortunate that the front JK arms are 3 3/4" longer than the stock XJ arm as they are tubular and the bushings are the right size.
