Ahhh, well Steph, seems like Congrats are in order. BTW you will love the Portland Or. Area. good hunting and fishing all over the place there as well as wind surfing the three gorges area. and you need to keep the jeep, lots of wheeling opportunities you are going to.

Steph, when you get settled, I will look you up when we visit the area. I used to live just south of there. Portland has lots of ethnic restaurants. I expect an education on good French cheese when I visit.

Summer is great there. Always green. I mean, really green. Makes the rest of the country look drab. Be sure to go to the coast. The beaches are nice and the terrain goes from basalt rock to nice sandy beaches. Short Sands beach is the nicest I think. You have to hike through Old Growth forest to get to it. It is incredible.

yes there are many things I am looking forward in this move.... I am more of a mountain person, but I hear from some French people that the coast of Oregon looks a lot like the coast of Brittany in France that I absolutely love (same wet climate as well...)

You will also notice many French sounding names in the Portland area. The first Whites in the area to settle it were French trappers. The coastal area is actually a temperate rain forest. I love the woods there. Rule of thumb. If it is raining in Portland, it is probably nice at the coast. Water is cold though
