    Default 89 jeep wagoneer limited 4.0 bored 0.030 over

    i have a 4.0 engine and its bored 30 over i was wondering if someone might know what the make the engine now? its more then a 4.0 now since the bore.

    Call it a 4.2L then. That would be close and they do round the numbers up.

    also how much horse power would this give also torque?

    Doubtful they would change unless they decreased since you are not pulling in any additional air/fuel mixture to ignite and the combustion chamber has now increased in size.

    so what can i do to gain back the power i'm loosing?

    Bored TB or a supercharger. Big bucks either way but a substantial power gain b/c you are stuffing more burnable air/fuel in the same space and when ignited will cause more power release due to the sheer quantity of hydrocarbons being burned.

    how do you bore the throttle body? would a throttle body spacer help?

    There are companies that do that boring. There is much debate over the spacer doing any good. In theory it has the potential to increase the volume and also the velocity of the incoming air charge but it is quite small and also would only be significant at a higher speed but it also couldn't hurt the mixture. We have a member who could address that more directly as he made some spacers and undoubedly tested them. Leave him a PM and he may be able to more fully answer your questions about spacers.
