    Default Jeep throws codes...

The other day I had a friend hook up his scanner to my Jeep due to my check engine light coming on. The 2 codes that came up where P1494- leak detection pump pressure switch or mechanical fault and P0463- fuel level circuit A high level input. I'm not sure exactly what those two codes are suppose to mean, so if anyone has an idea, I would appreciate it if someone could give me some advice on to what is going on and how to correct it. Thanks.

Are you smelling any fuel? Check the gas cap to see it is tight.
Hey bubba get your hand off my ass,

Some days it is just not worth it to gnaw through the leather restraints.

They both have something to do with the gas tank ventilation i.e. the gas cap may be bad.

After searching the internet it appears the P1494 code can be either a bad leak detection pump, which seems to be on the passenger side of the fire wall... but more commonly the problem seems to be the vacuum hoses going to the LDP. I would start with the hoses.
For the P0463, does your fuel gauge work? If it does not work this is the problem. I would check the wiring first, but you may need a new pump/sender.

If the gas gauge is acting weird, you probably have a bad ground. If you have to , run a new ground wire for it. It will be the black one. Those codes will probably disappear when you do that.
