I need to take the time to bumpstop mine. Front DS likes to chomp on my upper control arm and diff vent. Already had water in the diff. I can't figure out how their contacting but it sounds terrible when it does. stock upper arm is getting beat up pretty bad. Doesn't sound like a fun job.

When I did my lift my front bump stops pretty much fell out from being deteriorated and rotten, I shortly replaced them with hockey pucks and I'm happy with them. My rear bump stops are still a problem though, I extended the rear stock bump stops with 1 1/2" square stock but I'm still having issues with having too much travel to the point that they hit the fenders. Other that building plates on top of the axle or spending 80 for extended stops that put me at the same length as I have now are there any other options?

I used a bump stop off a Wrangler. It is a good 2" longer and fits the XJ. Another option is to use a 3/8" plate drilled to replace your spring top plate that is extended over enough to hit the bump stop.

I'm going to have to look at the Wrangler ones, the local shop I prefer to use here could only find one style for me that were made directly for the XJ and like I said they would have been 80 bucks. For that price I can fab up something myself.

Not really sure. I got mine off another XJ. But you will recognize them when you see them. They look just about like the Daystar extended rear bumpstop

I need to do this to my 97. I have some extended Daystars on order. I too was confused about this as no one states the diameter. I measured my one existing stop after I pulled it out and it measures 1 9/16" on the O. D. I have seen some that say they are 2",So I ordered the small ones. I hope they fit!

What I did for my rear bumpstops is this:
    2" tube cut
    2" longer bumpstop from Rusty's

This is on a sagging 3 1/2" lift(s-10 springs in the rear) and 33" tires.

    98 w/ 4.5" lift.

dropped a stop on last trip out. found it inside the coil when we got home. thought about hydraulic shocks .5 seconds. then I saw the price

so ordering some daystar extended stops.

also saw these by omix on amazon: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Omix-Ada-18280-09-Axle-Bumper/dp/B000FQ7TMG/ref=pd_sim_auto_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=1DXE0CY9R6SBTVGM9 XRA"]Amazon.com: Omix-Ada 18280.09 Axle Bumper: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41z1PG8s3qL.@@AMEPARAM@@41z1PG8s3qL[/ame]

Hockey pucks and metal tubing. Thanks to rguignard I have the square metal tubing and thanks to Sports Authority I now have hockey pucks!

I purchased 12 hockey pucks from Sports Authority ONLINE for 25 shipped.

Reading the article on GOJEEP all I need to do is glue these hockey pucks in.

I noticed that Oreily's has spring compressors that you can borrow. So since I have a factory bump stop that has dropped into the coil, I already tried gluing it once, I'm going to remove the coil, fix that dropped bump stop. Paint the coils factory red and then install the hockey pucks. I'll have to look at it. I may have to reinstall the coil before I can install the pucks. I'd like to bolt that first puck to the base of the coil pad then glue the rest to it.

Keep watching this thread as I will post up things that I learned and pictures as this most recent Jeep project progresses.
Hello Mudderoy, im about to do that mod coz both my front and rear BS are gone , and im shipping parts from the US to Beirut/lebanon from Amazon,

I'm horrible on bumpstops, I've never built any and just let the tires eat what gets in the way.. After awhile the problem fixes itself...LOL
