    Default Memorial Day

Hey bubba get your hand off my ass,

Some days it is just not worth it to gnaw through the leather restraints.

I heard a poem today that goes something like this:

If you have freedom of religion, don't thank a preacher, thank a vet
If you have freedom of the press, don't thank a reporter, thank a vet
If you have freedom of speech, don't thank a politician, thank a vet
If you have freedom to by what you want, don't thank an economist, thank a vet

The poem goes on, but you get the idea. It was those who died in past wars that earned our rights and freedoms.

    Honor our soldiers!
Son we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by
men with guns. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain
myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very
freedom I provide then questions the manner in which I provide it I'd
...rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you
pick up a weapon and stand a post.

As a vet from prior wars I say to those that came after me,
Hey bubba get your hand off my ass,

Some days it is just not worth it to gnaw through the leather restraints.

Today, no matter if your going wheeling, wrenching, having a BBQ, or just doing nothing, take a moment and remember what today is all about. Today is about remembering all the fallen service members that have assured our freedom over the last 234 years.

Happy Memorial Day. Today is first remembering those that got us where we are.

Don't ever forget, history forgotten will be history repeated.

    Today is about the past.

    It is the
    VETERAN,
    not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

    It is the
    VETERAN,
    not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

    It is the
    VETERAN,
    not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

    It is the
    VETERAN,
    not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
    It is the
    VETERAN,
    not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

    It is the
    VETERAN,
    not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

    It is the
    VETERAN who
    salutes the Flag,
    because
    It is the
    VETERAN
    who serves and dies
    for the Flag
Hey bubba get your hand off my ass,

Some days it is just not worth it to gnaw through the leather restraints.

Without our soldiers, our veterans, those who have sacrificed. We would not have the safety, security, nor the liberty that we so cherish today. *Thank you to all who have served and to those who still do. *
And to the Parents, children, wives, husbands, sisters, brothers. *All those who have watched their loved ones leave and especially those whose loved ones have not come home. *Our gratitude and prayers can never be enough to comfort you for your loss. *You are in our hearts, and our prayers, may God bless you and comfort you, thank you for all you have done.

This is worth seeing. Actual footage from V day 1945. It gives you a sense of what it was really like. Lots of cool vintage iron too.
