Lots of chain slap. I can look in though the drain and see the chain flopping all over and hitting the case when i spin the front shaft by hand.

Pulled the tcase and tore it down for a rebuild. Going back together today gotta swing by the parts store and use their pilot bearing puller. There are marks on the inside of the case where the chain was dragging on it.

It actually looks like the case was rebuilt at somepoint but the chain wasnt replaced.

Make sure you have good snap ring pliers. That is one drawback of our tcases. Chain stretch.

did a engine compression test, result was
    123,
    119,
    119,
    123,
    132,
    120 and wet
    133,
    137,
    133,
    143,
    158,
    129

seems within spec ( Alldata said 120-150 PSI average), but I have a some bump while idling, noticeable vibration when stopped on D, if I shift to N vibration decrease but still there, plus mpg is horrible in city traffic.

    1. checked coolant temperature sender on thermostat, values are little below from popular chart of jeep 4.0 temp sender resistance vs. temp
    2. exhaust tip is hot, I cannot touch it but, if I spray water, it will not vaporize immediately, just dry out very quick
    3. no OBD code other than 55
    4. all senders are replaced within 1 year (coolant on thermostat, intake air temp, O2), IAC & TPS, distributor cap, rotor & wires

today replaced old Champion RC12LYC spark plugs with 7252 NGK FR5-1 and PCM resetted, will see

I could sit in these all day. Very comfy. And these arent even out of higher trim level WJ. I got these out of a base Laredo.

Put Rusty's motor mounts in, replaced my front windshield washer pump and replaced the fan clutch. The motor mount i put in the driver's side 5 months amd 8000 miles ago was already showing signs of tearing. Passenger mount looked ok for it's age.
