    Default Starter Pause

I think this is a starter going out, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this experience.

Over the last several months, the starter will pause momentarily during crank. Probably less than 1/2 a second. The engine starts up fine.

Recently the pause has gotten longer.

I ordered a replacement starter today.

I believe the current starter was installed about 2005 - 2008, which is amazing for an aftermarket starter!

The only other thing I can think of is the battery not putting out enough amps

Hmmm maybe a cable. It doesn't sound like a slow start. It sounds like when you're trying to start a high compression engine lol

I understand. That is why I thought of a battery that might test good, but not be good enough under a real load like a starter. Try pulling your rig with the winch and your foot on the brake

Check all of your grounds, and dont just look at them remove them clean them then bolt them back on.

Are you still running the original battery and ground cables?
