    Default Power Brake Booster

I changed out the power brake booster last night.

Pedal seems like it goes lower.

After changing it I found a post about adjusting the rod that goes into the master cylinder.

I'm not sure if that needs to be adjusted or I need to bleed the brakes.

I think the answer is YES I need to bleed the brakes since I took off two of the three lines running to the master cylinder. Some reason I couldn't get the third one off. None of my wrenches would fit it. Either too big or too small.

So the two front ones on that manifold thingy that feeds the master cylinder.

Yes start by bleeding the brakes Tony, the pedal should be much better afterwards

Yes, it will need to be bled. It doesn't take much to affect the pedal. A little bit soft too?

I agree with everyone else, I've never heard of the rod being adjustable. I know the rod on 96 and older are one length and the 97+ xj's rod is alittle longer..

I know on some vehicles the rod is adjustable.. didn't think it was on the XJ.. But yeah, like everyone else said, would definitely start with bleeding the whole system... if nothing else, can't hurt and will make it all work better..

Brakes are over rated. Just toss this out the window when you want to stop.

It's amazing how little I use my brakes on the highway even during stop and go traffic. Really didn't noticed until I was concerned about stopping...

Bled the front brakes last night. Pedal feels better. Will know more when I drive it more than just testing the pedal and pulling it into the garage.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that when I would come to a stop, not every time, that the pedal would go down further than normal braking.

Most recently I noticed it pulsing, although this could have been something on the stereo as the speaker is right there.

This morning, the pedal is way down after driving about 15 miles. Could it be that air bubbles have merged over time and now I need to bleed it again?

I haven't checked it for leaks or levels yet as this happened coming into work.
