So what does the rotation do? Does it continuously rotate, or does it rotate until you stop it on the best signal?

Was wondering that myself... or maybe it rotates on it's own, until it finds the best signal depending on the frequency being used...

The antenna is directional. The longest element is the rear (reflector) the shortest is the front (director). The rotor points the antenna in the direction of the signal as it concentrates all of is transmitting signal in that direction. Rotation is manually operated from the "shack" (operating position).
