    Default P1391 code

1998 jeep Cherokee threw a 1391 code and then went away? I got the code read for a crankshaft position sensor. Would a misfire cause this?

I can't say for sure either way, but I would imagine if you had a misfire you would also have the P0300 code (or any of the variants specifying which cylinder... P0301, P0302, etc).

A bad crank sensor might cause a misfire

Nicky is right, the misfire would be caused by a bad CPS. If it did it once, it will do it again, possibly leaving you stranded. Best to change those every 100K as a preventative measure

I have a repeating missfire in cyl 1 and temp sensor out of range issue. They will pop up and go away for weeks at a time. They were present last time i got it inspected and my mechanic said that he double checked everything...he thinks there is something funny with my ecu. I dont worry about it much..lol.

Thanks for all the input on the issue. If it happens again I'll start with the sensor and go from there
