    Default Idle speed set screw

So a conversation with a fellow member here has caused me to feel a need to put this question out to all......i read AFTER i adjusted the set screw on throttle body that controls the butterfly valve, that you should NOT adjust that. Sooo, what are some of the doomsday things that could happen if you do? Plus, could it cause my tranny to shift poorly?
