    Default 242 to 231 swap

    i finally did the swap and got the sye in and driveshaft. my issue is with the shift lever. i got the boost werks simple 231 kit. My question is does the shift handle from a 242 equipped xj have a longer throw. i know the 242 tcase does. the other is do i need the shift gate and the brass part the bolts to the floor? would that make the lever not move i mean i cant get it to move without snapping the lever off.

    You want to get the 231 shifter itself. It has a different pattern in it that matches your new shifting requirememts
    230 hp 4.3L Chevy
    Built 4L60E with manual lockout
    Atlas 4 speed
    Griffin radiator
    On board air
    Warn 9.5ti on custom bumper
    7.5" RE front and bastard pack rear on custom long arms
    30 gal gas tank
    lockers
    And a bunch of other stuff

    so lever and all? i thought the gate was the only real difference other then maybe the brass part

    It is really the base and the slot the lever goes through. It is easier just to get the whole thing and bolt it in
