Default Rear end swap from Dana 35 to a Crysler 8.25 questions.

So I am swapping the Dana 35 to a Crysler 8.25 rear.

We are transferring the brakes over to the 8.25 and I guess my concern is.....

#1 Can anyone think of any snags we might have? Rusty parts, brake lines?, bolts?
#2 Should I buy a few parts just in case so I don't need them and not have them ahead of time?

#3 My Dana 35 must a have a bent frame. Mechanics have installed 3 bearings into it and they all go bad after a week. I'm not spending another dime on this rear end ever again. So I am getting the chrysler 8.25 Is this thing going to be reliable and not grind and grind.

I need all of your tips and advice.

    Thanks

IIRC, the brake backing plate will be different on the 8.25. You will need to use that backing plate minimum. The rest might change over

Can we transfer the back plate from the dana 35 over to the 8.25 then?

Do you have a prop shaft / drive shaft for the 8.25 ??

I'd have to find it and measure it again ... but I'm sure the D35 shaft I have is longer than the 8.25 shaft.

Someone might know whether thats an issue or not.

    Went and measured them both.

What I have is a 8.25 propshaft that is 1" shorter - than the D35 one out of my parts wreck.

I dunno whether the D35 propshaft extra length is an issue tho - after fitting a 8.25 diff housing - when the suspension flattens out and it pushes up into the slip yoke ??

    Yeah I know that ..

but what I was wondering was ... is whether the extra inch would limit the travel amount inside the slip yoke,

i.e. flatten the suspension and bang the shaft hard up against slip yoke end, thereby transferring a pounding to the transfer case ??

sighhhh ... I'm probably just overthinking it ...

No, not really. I don't really know if you can just use the 35 shaft. The other one is probably an inch shorter for a reason

I'm actually confused now. So can I use my dana 35 shaft?

I'm thinking its probably not an issue in the short term ... maybe keep an eye out for a longer one at junkyards etc.

I'm sure others have used them - with no known issues ... but maybe their suspension lift heights have compensated for the length difference. ??

sorry for screwing with your head ..

I understand everything until you guys get mechanical hahahahah.

What other issues could I run into?
