Model # WG 2160. Just house hold stuff mostly. Gonna fab me a small fold out stand for painting auto body parts. Then later once I'm comfortable with the machine. I want to put in the 2x6 rocker panels. Nothing to serious. All the reviews are good just wanting to see what's out there.

I'd say it would seem like that should work nicely for those uses.. I've been researching machines to pick up for a low price and to get started on teaching myself welding, and the one you are looking at seems fairly similar to the ones I've been looking at and they seem like they'd work fine for what you were talking about using it for..

Thanks Brandon!! I enjoy my time in the service and my job.. Looking forward to the next chapter of my life though... Hoping I can maybe get my foot in the door @ an off road shop for the start of a new career if things go as hopped... even more of a reason to need to pick up a welder to make use of at home, especially so I can learn more @ home for use @ work..

its actually a good brand. made by lincoln i think or miller ..one of them sub branded.
unless your a pro and everything is just right flux is your enemy.
i have the hobart equivilent kinda. its 140v. try to get a higher voltage one. i paid 500.
very very worth it and im a cheapskate. i went through a few harbor freight welders, freakn junk.
i used pure co2 and had good welds. then got argon/c02 mix. learned. watch youtube videos and try all kinds of things.
try to get one with a flexi gun.
low voltage will not allow you to penetrate into thicker metal. amen

Rabies, thanks for the input man. I still haven't made a purchase yet. Still undecided about a machine. I was looking at Hobart welder a yesterday at Tractor Supply. So many factors to decide on.

my hobart hasnt let me down. ive welded lots of differnt metals and thicknesses.
if you get the right wire and technique you can weld alumiumn with it.
the only thing i want to change is a swivel nozel gun. to reach differnt places,
    and maybe a 2nd ground

I absolutely love my Hobart stick welder. Would like to pick up a flux one as well. Probably go Hobart as well. The one I use at work hasn't let me down.
