Ok so everything I've read says you can't use stock rims with the akebono calipers. Right now I just have the tevis ones. I've had the calipers and brackets and the rotors for a while it was one of those projects I put on the back burner for a while before I really researched the crap out of it. My question is will the tevis calipers clear the stock rims

I wanna run the akebonos I'm gonna grab a pair on may 4 its 50 all you can carry day

Now I don't wanna pay someone right now to take my tires off and put them on a different set of rims so if I can make due with the tevis calipers for now I'd just rather do that until the time is right for gears and 35s

Additionally, I have a set of steel tj rims and a set of american outlaw ll rims too I would like to know if the akebono calipers will clear those if anyone knows that would be great!

If not have any of you done this swap? Could someone mesure the distance needed to clear the wheel for me? preferably in metric instead of silly fractions? Lol j/k standard is fine!

And lastly I am also running 2' wheel spacers I was wondering if this will help with the caliper possibly clearing the stock rims...

If all else fails and no once can help I have a sapir d30 laying on the floor in my garage so I can fiddle about with it and see.. thanks a million everybody

We have been eyeballing those brakes for awhile too and plan to run them on a YJ. But we are resigned to the idea that a 15" rim will not clear the brakes. The rotors and calipers are just much larger than the stock XJ stuff. Besides, the XJ has a different bolt pattern 5 on 5"

Yeah what about the steelies though? The stock aluminum ones are thick n stuff the steelies aren't thick and tapeted like the aluminum ones and I'd rather not go up a rim size just cause of tire prices

I don't think a steely will do it either. These brakes are just physically bigger. Even the rear brakes are as large as the fronts on an XJ

I've read a few places now the 15's need a certian depth or sometging for them to fit I'm not buying new tires till closer to the fall maybe winter because after the steerings done I'm going to order a long arm kit and then after that its gonna be gears and 35s not that I don't belive you there are just alot of conflicting posts out the weather or not 15s will or will not fit. So once I get the knuckle welded up and all drilled out and everything I'm going to fiddle around with the stealies I have and see what I can do with the teves calipers just to tide me over till I get new tires

It might be possible, but they would have to not have much offset. It would be iffy at best

Yeah in the winter it probably wouldn't be the greatest set up with all the salt ice and snow
