    Icon10 Underhood light socket removal

I couldn't find the 'Dumb Question Forum' so I figured I'd post this here.
The underhood light in my 1999 Sport does not light and before I break/snap the 'antique' plastic - How do I un-plug the socket so's I can check the bulb? What do I push or pull? Does the red tab have anything to do with removing the socket from the housing?
    Inquiring mind wants to know . . . .
    Regards, Hank

    Got a piccy ??

My update model xj lamp connection doesn't have any red tabs.

On the other harness connectors though, the red tab "usually", slides sideways.
I hate watching simplicity and reliability being ruined by bureaucracy and technology.

you can always use a sewing pin to push into the wire and check voltage without unplugging anything.
One more part and I'll have a new Jeep

Here's a photo of the light plug/socket in question. I tried (gently) moving the red bit with no luck although it looks like it should slide.
    Up-Date:
Viola! It does slide now to get the courage to wiggle the socket off the light . . . .

    It's tough gettin' old
