Default standard volume vs. high volume oil pump?

Since I'm putting a new head on (eventually), I was thinking, I should also go ahead and hoan the cylinders and change the bearings....
and to do that I'll have to drop the oil pan...
And as long as I'm dropping the oil pan, I was thinking, maybe time to swap the oil pump?

Looking at the oil pump options at SummitRacing, there's only a couple dollars diff between the Standard Volume and the High Volume pumps.
    like 79 vs. 74.

Is there any reason not to just get the high volume pump?
...it was just the pump. I'd have to use the existing stem and filter.

Some people say not to on the 4.o. But I don't see why not. I always liked high volume pumps. Keeps the pressure up when the bearings wear

I've been running a HV pump for the last 50k miles without issue (knock on wood) so there's no reason not to run one, especially since the 4.0L engine (and the stroker on which it's based) doesn't have particularly tight bearing clearances even when new.
Just keep in mind that the body of a HV pump is bigger so you'll need to "massage" a small section of the oil pan with a ballpeen hammer to gain some clearance.

The jeep 4.0 has a HV pump it just not a HV high pressure pump that is why they give you a range of 25 to 60 cold to hot and low rpm and higher rpm.
