Default Replacing fuel pump on 94 gc laredo 5.2

Hey everyone. My fuel pump just went out on me. Its a 94 Laredo. I keep hearing that i could cut out the floor board and get to the pump easy...i have a full tank so i want to do this the easiest way possible. Any thoughts on this idea? Ive never done this before so im new at doing fuel pumps on a jeep. Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you

I think the best way to do it to to drain the tank and drop it. To me that seems easier then trying to cut and patch the floor. If you can't get your hands on enough gas cans you can put the gas in your gals car or give a few gallons to the buddy that's gonna help you drop the tank.

One more part and I'll have a new Jeep

Yes, drop that tank. I would hate to screw up a floorboard over this. It is not that hard really. It just sounds like it. Buy some beer, get some help and drink the beer later.

Yeah, i would definitely suggest emptying some of that fuel and drop it. Have a second pair of hands to help... and if you don't you can utilize a floor jack hold it in place and drop and raise it. Its not hard, just a pain. I've changed one on my moms zj. The strap nuts just loosen and lift the ends to get it out of the slot, lower the front of the strap. The rear just needs to be turned sideways and it should come right out. Make sure you get the pump seal in place correctly. Its not hard to do, just not good if its wrong. The filler tubes are a PAIN! Loosen the hose clamps and angle the tank down on the passengers side and raise the drivers side as much as you can. Oh, and don't forget the vent tubes and wiring on top of the tank. They're easy to forget about.

Thank you...I'm definitely going to drain as much fuel as i can and drop it. I probably wont have any help...since everyone i know works opposite shifts than me. But i think i can do it. I'm gonna take my time and do it right. I'll keep you updated on my progress! Thanks again for your input definitely much used!

Sounds good. Don't forget the floor jack trick. Once the tank is empty its not that heavy but when you're trying to get the filler hoses back on and the straps back in place it helps to not have to hold the tank too.

Don't worry bud, you got dis!
