Purple 90 Renix cooling system

when i first bought this jeep, i drove it from oklahoma to conroe texas, went mudding in the 100 degree heat and never experienced overheating, i noticed the past couple months it would overheat real easy, i changed the thermostat and water pump and it still did it, i took out the thermostat and it wont overheat for awhile unless i'm bogging down in sand or mud. so what would yall do? i thought about going with a newer setup where i can fill the water at the radiator like my 97. would this work out better for me? its weird how my 87 wont go above 200 even bogging it down for long periods of time and it has the old system, i cant seem to find whats wore out on the 90...

The newer cooling system is better, far less temperamental. Make sure you have a good radiator, in fact let a radiator shop rod it out if possible. Or, you can get your current radiator serviced and a filler neck added if it is a brass radiator. Then you just need the updated tstat housing. Make sure the clutch on the fan is working, since it may be worn out and all shrouds are in place.

I bet you need a new radiator, or at least to have that one gone through at a radiator shop.

A radiator is what it mine needed to cure my overheating.

ok, i'll get the radiator looked at, i'd rather not upgrade to the new cooling since my 87 has never had a overheating problem and mine just started happening.
