    Default LP D30 to HP D30 swap

    It's finally time for the Jeep to get regeared but it currently has the LP D30. We picked up a 99 with a HP D30 a while back and so my question is...how difficult is it to swap one for the other?? The place that's doing the gearing wanted ~600 to do the swap and that just seemed crazy.

    Are there any helpful tips? Anything major to keep an eye on? Does it completely knock the steering out of whack?

    It bolts in. Nothing major to worry about. Bolt it in, check the fluid, bleed the brakes and drive to an alignment shop and you are done

    As long as I don't disconnect the calipers, I shouldn't have to bleed the brakes, right?

    Or am I missing something?

    Yes, as long as they fit. They got a wee bit larger after 91. Not sure about later
