Stock 98 XJ

Hi All,
So I figured I'd get my first real post out of the way by posting up a couple quick pics of my new-to-me '98 Limited. It's a bone-stock 4.0 with a bit over 150k on the ODO. Plans are to put a 2" lift on it (will be my DD) and put some fresh rubber underneath, but I'm in no hurry. Let me know what you think!

Thanks guys. Wasn't sure about the color at first, but once I saw it in person my mind was changed. I think Jeeps are the only vehicles that can pull of white, but anyway...Hoping to get it dirty SOON, but here in MD, there are nearly no trails/beaches you can ride (protecting endangered species)..

Too bad about the trails. But in an XJ you can be comfortable traveling to and from trails at a distance.

Thanks for the input bigjim.. Im completely torn between the snowflakes and black wheels. If I decide to keep the snowflakes, I will need to refinish/ paint 'em because the clear-coat is coming off and it's pretty noticeable. Are those steel wheels on your XJ?

and JJ, I agree. Just something classic about the look of the stock wheels. Are those painted or just good and muddy in the pic? lol

They are just filthy, they are normally very shiny, even the clear coat is generally in good order....

Thought so. I asked because I've seen some that were meant to match the body color of a yellow/ gold-ish body. Your clear-coat isn't peeling? Are they original? Sorry for drilling down, just curious as to whether I should buy new ones, refinish/ paint the current ones, etc.

Beautiful Jeep man! And those are the wheels I have too and I love them. I tried painting my spare black with plasti-dip to see what it looks like and I don't know how much I like it. Luckily it's a temp paint.

Another thing you can do to offset some white is paint the headlight bezels and grill black. But I think it looks great either way.

I'm not completely sold on the black wheels yet, but that wheel in the pic looks pretty dang nice to me. I'm going to take the wheels off this weekend regardless to put new tires on, so I may decide to paint one of the wheels (maybe the full spare) black to see how I like it in person. I am worried that the peeling on the wheels I have on there may need to be dealt with first, maybe sanded down, before painting. Did you need to do that with your spare?

Regardless, I'll post a close-up tomorrow to show what I mean if the "peeling" isn't making much sense haha

Excellent Jeep, excellent choice.

I too have a 98 Classic that is white. I have a 3.5" Rubicon Express kit on it along with 3/4" spacers up front and 1/2" shackle extensions out back. For wheels I chose the optional in 98/99 TJ Grizzly wheels. Now my tires are 31 x 10.5 x 15 Rocky Mountain AT from Falken.

yeah its a clean xj. i have a white 2000 wish my grill was white like yours that looks better than black
