    Re: Steering Catching

    Is it dangerous?

I just watched several youtube vids about column repairs on these trucks. Looks doable. :shug: I've had a non-tilt column apart on a '74 J20 and it looks a little familiar.

    Steering Catching

89 with tilt steering. The steering is catching slightly when turning either way from center. I'm afraid it will catch hard enough to stop the wheel from steering. From the sound of it, the...

Re: Little help Please - AW4 TC No Lockup

Using the cig lighter socket wall as my ground I tested these solenoid wires from the TCU connector:
    C14: 13.2 ohms
    C15: 12.9 ohms
    C16: 12.9 ohms

Well too late now, I'm not removing the pan again w/o due cause. I suppose I could try tripping it from the C14 wire at the TCU?

Re: Little help Please - AW4 TC No Lockup

Rechecked them right at the solenoid when i had the pan off. TC solenoid had slightly less ohms than the other two; it was 9.8 and the others were 11.2. I would have tested them with battery voltage...

Little help Please - AW4 TC No Lockup

    1989 XJ AW4.

I replaced a bad TPS with a Duralast brand (Autozone). Now the AW4 won't shift into TC lockup. So, I then re-placed the Duralast with the bad old one. Still no lockup. So put back the...

    Re: Switching out Dana 35

Hey, I'm considering this same swap. My '89 has the 35C and I can get what I believe is a 8.25 from a 2000 for $50. Will I have to replace my nearly new e-brake cables or will they fit the 8.25, too?

    Re: AW4 Transmission Shuddering

I think the shuddering is just a natural reaction of the bump-thump, like and after shock, so-to-speak. It feels like the tranny is jumping in and out of gear, real instantaneously like.
