Re: New guy introduction and build.

Well, after looking on the rc site, one of those "extra" bolts I pushed aside was a 10mm. I'll have to see what I did with that.

Re: New guy introduction and build.

My axle side track bar bolt hole is about 1/8" bigger than the bolt. I'm using the stock bolt and flag nut which I hear is a m9 shank but m10 thread. This could be the cause if my steering clunk....

If I do, it's not going to be a how-to, just a before and after comparison.

Just picked up a box from a '99 Durango. It's dirty as all hell but I'll clean it up. I put a vice grip on the output shaft and it had about 3.25 turns lock to lock, not too bad. The spacer I...

Re: What did you order lately thread

Matthew Dyer, I think the guy who runs ddo, is the mod/creator of one of the xj facebook groups I'm in. He seems like a cool dude so I figured I'd give him a shot.

    Re: Project Cheap XJ

It's the little things that we get excited for, a straight steering wheel is one of those things.

3/16" steel steering box spacer from dirtdogs off road. They were running an eBay special and I think it came to $24.

Re: New guy introduction and build.

It's really bad. My wife won't even drive it. Only $40 for a durango box from a dude in town, so it's a cheap iinvestment to know everything has been replaced. Worst case scenario, spend another dm...

Re: New guy introduction and build.

Real bad wandering and bumpsteer. New drag link, tie rod with ends, trackbar, caster is about 7 degrees, ball joint and wheel bearings don't have any play in them.

Re: New guy introduction and build.

Using very sophisticated imaging software I can see that my drag link and track bar aren't parallel. I'm thinking a drop pitman arm could have been a cure to my steering problem that i've been...

Re: New guy introduction and build.

Doesn't seal is a better wsy to put it. The drivers side door fell off years ago and the hinges weren't welded back on correctly leaving s 1/4" gap in the corner by the windshield. Over time that gap...

Re: New guy introduction and build.

It's not even that, the steering is ****ed, the doors don't lock, the door doesn't close, real main seal needs to be replaced, leaking coolant from somewhere, ticking sound from the cluster when I go...

Re: New guy introduction and build.

It was literally heart breaking to think about not having it. It needs so much work, but I still couldn't do it. Plus, it's not worth shit so it's not like we'd get much for it.
