Fixed it. The metal line running to the charcoal canister was clogged. Cut off the last few feet that was clogged and ran new rubber hose.

Last few times ive taken the gas cap off the xj its made a hissing noise for a long time. Couldnt tell if it was pressure or vacuum. Definitely didnt do it before. Anybody else have this problem? ...
