    Re: Shocks: dead or not?

Haven’t had a set that hissed like this. Free is good, and they do work, but the sound is irritating.

    BPE’s

Does changing to BPE’s change the span of articulation enough to require different shocks lengths. I would not think so, but thought it wise to ask.

    Re: Shocks: dead or not?

These are hydro’s made by someone, and work, but they hiss when you hit a little bump, especially so when cold.

    Shocks: dead or not?

I grabbed what look to be Procomp shocks for cheap from an XJ with a blown motor.

How do you determine if they’ll still good before going through the trouble of installing them? They do not...

    Seats

Are XJ seats interchangeable? Have leather in an ‘01 Limited that will not adjust anymore. Cloth are more comfortable anyway, so thought I’d do a swap. Will it work? Thanks.

    Leaking into cabin

Working with my new Jeep, which replaces the totaled one from last month. Heavy rains the last few days, and I found water pooling in the front passenger floorboard. A lot of water at the bottom door...

    Re: Driver front fender collision

Finally spoke with the other driver’s carrier today. It’s been a week, and I had to call them.

They’re wanting to assess the damage, costs, etc based on the pictures I took, rather than send...

    Driver front fender collision

Well, I had the new ‘00 Sport one week, and a young lady turned in front of me. No word from the other drivers insurance, whose fault it was. I understand that carriers are VERY quick to total...

    TrailTuff Net

Is TrailTuff Nets still in business? Website is still up, but sent an e-mail a while back and got no reply. If they are not, then I'm looking to buy a net like what they made.

    Thanks.

Looking for that blast plastic donut that helps secure the spare tire in the interior of an XJ.

    Rise block dimensions

I have access to milling machines at night school, and thought I'd make some 2" rise blocks for a modest little low-cost lift for my new 00' daily driver. Does anyone have good dimensions, or...

WTB: XJ lift gate lock bolts

I need one bolt to secure a lift gate locking mechanism to the lift gate more securely. The bolt/screw has a torx head, and is pictured below.

Local junk yard XJ’s are picked over. Can send the...

    Re: Rubicon wheels on XJ

So switching to these new 17" wheels would not be a problem?

It looks like the 245 70 17's would be fine, or even a little bigger 255 or 265.

I don't mind if the speedo reads higher than...

    Rubicon wheels on XJ

Currently on the family XJ we have plain Wrangler wheels with 245/70R16, along with 1" spacers to convert the lug pattern. 3" lift front and rear. There is more room for a bigger tire, but I don't...
  15. Volts drop, dimming lights, warning lights, and dead

The '95 ZJ my son drives has been nothing but trouble. It died again tonight. It has a new battery, fairly new ignition switch, coil, wires, plugs, cap, and rotor.

    Sputtered, voltage gauge very...

    Re: Motor mount install

I used a block and jack to raise the engine, but was having a lot of difficulty getting the cross bolt out, even with adjustments to the height, that I backed off and stopped. Since I didn't have any...

Re: Sanity check - tire and lift chart

Thanks. The wheels on there now, plus the spare, were acquired that way and has some Yokohama something-or-others on them. They're worn out now. I didn't realize the lug pattern difference until I...

Sanity check - tire and lift chart

    Time for tires.

Clean '01 XJ Limited, 206k, and may sell it before too long. 3" all around with ZJ V8 coils + 1" spacers, S-10 bastard pack, take-off Sahara shocks, and older 16" Wrangler wheels...

    Motor mount install

Have motor mounts to install, but I don't have anyone to help shove the engine around to get the holes lined up. Made an attempt on the passenger side, getting as far pound out the main bolt most of...
  20. Re: Intermittent rotor/pad noise when turning

Wheel bearings were fine. Outside pad on driver side was worn down to the plate. Rest of the pads were close to time for replacement as well. Replaced bad and rotor, cleaned the pins, new rubber...
  21. Re: Intermittent rotor/pad noise when turning

Thanks. I'm being a little lazy looking before leaping, but it's 90+ and humid. There's no A/C in the Jeep, and no A/C where I work on it; the less sweating like a pig the better.
  22. Intermittent rotor/pad noise when turning

Starting to get some intermittent light metallic rubbing noise from the left front when turning. The noise pulses like there are high's and low's like a warp.

Drove along the side of a building...

Re: Radiator AT cooling hose - upper

Thanks. I'll give that a try. It didn't seem misaligned, but it's permitted to sag more now because the new radiator doesn't have a mounting location for the bracket that holds the line up. I'll...

Radiator AT cooling hose - upper

Put in a radiator last night. Hadn't done that repair before. Went fine, but have noticed a small drip of transmission fluid from the upper transmission cooling line fitting area.

    I don't think...
