    Re: Airbag light comes on

I've read about the clock spring/horn thing, but the horn works fine, which is why I'm thinking sensor, but having never dealt with one before, I'm not sure where is sits and if its something I'm...

    Re: Airbag light comes on

Pressing on it (and hitting it) doesn't seem to do anything. Sometimes its on, sometimes its off. There is minor front end damage. Damage is a bad description. You can tell the bumper was pushed...
  3. Re: Bucking, hesitation, lunging on a cold '99

    thats great news, thanks!
  4. Re: Bucking, hesitation, lunging on a cold '99

Just changed it today. By your question, I'm going to guess it'll take the computer a few miles to work it out?
  5. Re: Bucking, hesitation, lunging on a cold '99

This vehicle is dragging me down...

Changed the coolant temp sensor, all the hoses, flushed it...and it still lunges and hesitates. Last thing I can think of will be the up stream O2 sensor.

  6. Re: Bucking, hesitation, lunging on a cold '99

I guess I'll try the temp sensor first, its a 1/3 the price of the O2 sensors

    I'm listening...

On the list of things to do (she's new to us), is flush the coolant, replace the hoses and the t-stat. I noted the day we looked at her the coolant was on the well used side.

  8. Re: D/C battery to reset CEL, now won't start

Figured it out. I thank you for the advice, but like Frankie, I did it my way. Which consisted of calling AAA, having it towed to a trusted alarm install business, talk them down on the price of a...
  9. D/C battery to reset CEL, now won't start

    '99 XJ, stock

My guess is an aftermarket alarm, to which we have to key fob to turn it off with.

Disconnected battery for about a minute. Connected it and flashers are going on/off. Get in to...

    Re: Fluid help

LMAO. Always learning. So, I look under the front end and what do I see? A front diff. Please, keep in mind, I've never had or dealt with 4x4. Closest is a AWD, in which the T-case IS the front...
  11. Re: Bucking, hesitation, lunging on a cold '99

No, at idle and under throttle. Sometimes going WOT seems to 'blow through' whatever the issue is, but after no more than 20-30 seconds, then its smooth sailing.

Still have the CEL, but its the...
  12. Bucking, hesitation, lunging on a cold '99

Happens within the first 10 minutes or so. I'll get out of the driveway and sometimes it'll act up, sometimes its a mile or two down the road. It'll drop RPM's like its gonna die, then surge,...

    Fluid help

I'm replacing all the driveline fluids tomorrow. I seem to have the capacities, but not the weights (don't have owners manual). We live in New England, so it gets chilly.

    ANother issue I have is...

Yeah, found out when I saw the filter, lol. Ugh. Oh well, unless there are fuel issues, it'll wait...

A new issue. While out buying fluids, the check engine light came on. I know for most...

    Airbag light comes on

As it states. It will come on and go off randomly. I've tried watching it to see if its a hitting bumps issue, but it'll come on on a flat surface and stay on awhile, then go off.

    I searched...

Re: New to Jeeps, lots of questions

Another question on fluids, and I know this is usually a personal preference thing.

Diff, X-fer case, tranny fluids, what brand, what weight and how much? We live in New England, so colder...

Lesson learned on that one. I normally do buy them from the stores, but had read a few people swear by the Mopar made one. Thanks!

Re: New to Jeeps, lots of questions

I read earlier about using a larger oil filter. Other than more area to filter, are there any gains to be made and has anyone had issues with pressure? I plan on using 10w40, prolly Valvoline VR-1...

Re: New to Jeeps, lots of questions

Why the oversized filter? Other than more oil (which as it is, don't these beasts take like 6 quarts?). The oil filter neck size doesn't change, so the flow would stay the same, yes?

New to Jeeps, lots of questions

Hello! While I'm not new to vehicles, the '99 Cherokee is new to me. Shes bone stock, 126k miles.

It doesn't appear that the prior owner kept up with maintenance. Oil is dirty, air filter is...
