  1. Re: Ram van springs, shackles, and too much lift....

My XJ main leaves were worn out, so I couldn't use them. With the stock shackle in the rear most hole, it rides like stock...no joke. Pinion angle is pretty much perfect (no need for a degree...
  2. Re: Ram van springs, shackles, and too much lift....

I have swapped out the shackles for the stock shackles in the rear most hole in the relocation bracket. Soooooo much better! Shackle angle is right at ~65*, it doesn't ride like a dump truck, and...
  3. Re: Ram van springs, shackles, and too much lift....

Will do! This 3" lift is about to turn into a 5.5-6" lift...LOL
  4. Re: Ram van springs, shackles, and too much lift....

Thanks for the input guys. I've decided to say screw it and just raise the front up 2" w/ a spacer and adjustable LCA's. I'm done trying to "nickel and dime" my way to a decent setup...so I just...
  5. Re: Ram van springs, shackles, and too much lift....

It's not that the shorter shackles won't line up...it's the fact that they may swing into the shackle relocation brackets.

I made the mistake of trying to do this lift on a budget and not spend...
  6. Re: Ram van springs, shackles, and too much lift....

I do still have the stock shackles...however I've been told that since the Ram van leaf is 2" longer in the rear, that the stock shackles won't work, even with the relocation brackets and using the...
  7. Re: Ram van springs, shackles, and too much lift....

I honestly don't know...it may flatten the leaf out a bit. I could always try that (but that would require taking the whole damn thing apart again. LOL do you think maybe going to a .75" shackle...
  8. Re: Ram van springs, shackles, and too much lift....

This is a pic of the lift w/ the shackle in the 2nd hole from the end on the shackle relocation bracket:

  9. Ram van springs, shackles, and too much lift....

Ok, so I upgraded my rear spring packs to Ram van main and second leaves, add-a-leaf 3rd leaf, XJ 4th and overload. I did this because my original mains were pretty well shot. I also installed a...

    Re: Overflow bubbling/gurgling after shutdown

Ok, I think I have a faulty radiator. I've narrowed it down to the radiator cap. When I got home from work today, I took a look while it was running. No bubbles...so I tapped the radiator cap,...

    Re: Overflow bubbling/gurgling after shutdown

Swapped in a new Stant cap...still no change. No overheating, no leaks, oil is clean (no milkshake), coolant is clean (no oily residue), no white/blue smoke, runs great. I don't get it!?!?!?! Any...

    Re: Finally pulled the trigger...

Gotcha. Well, I guess I'll stick with the "stock" mounting for now. Definitely thinking of getting an adjustable trackbar, HD tie-rod bar/ends and quick disco's next.

    Re: Finally pulled the trigger...

Well, I ordered the 3" kit from IronRock and I don't know if they come with the proper shocks for a BPE. I could always press out the new shock's pin and then use the BPE's...that way I could use...

    Finally pulled the trigger...

...and bought the IronRock 3" lift kit. My question(s) next are: a) do I need to do anything about the track-bar? The sales lady said that with their 3" kit, a track-bar adjustment would not be...

    Re: Battery group size

I went to go by NAPA Saturday, but they were closed (stupid me for sleeping in). I checked out the "sealed" battery from Sam's Club and it is indeed a gel mat, sealed battery...for $99 (silly lady...

    Re: Battery group size

The Duracell website says that one of the models is completely sealed and maintenance free....if so, that's what I'll be picking up. And at less than 1/2 the cost of an Optima...for my purpose, this...

I asked and she said she didn't see any over there (maybe she just didn't look hard enough). But the Duracell is a sealed and maintenance free battery for $75. I'm going to check on it tonight or...

    Re: Battery group size

Just got off the phone with them....Yellow Top: $180. They also have a Duracell that's maintenance-free and sealed (no caps on the top) for $75. Looks like I found what I need for now. $75 is the...

I have a friend that has a Sam's Club card...may have to go with her and see if they have em. Their website doesn't list any automotive batteries.

Damn, totally forgot about Sam's club....just sucks I'm not a member. :-/ good call though, I'll have to try and see what they have and if it really is only $130, I'd be all over that like a fat kid...

    Re: Battery group size

Ok, now that we have the "size" determined, what're some suggestions for a sealed battery that won't break the bank? I'd love to get an Optima, but the ~$200 price tag is a bit daunting. I'd be ok...

    Re: Battery group size

that's correct. 78 is side, 34 is top, a 34/78 is both. Just sucks that after spending ~$400 for my lift, I now have to dump another ~$100 for a battery....yaaaay.....lol

Ok, I think it's a 34/78 battery size....cool, thanks! 34 for top post, 78 for side post (same dimensions).

    Re: Battery group size

    Only reason I'd disagree...is that the 78 is a side-post terminal battery...and the 34 is a top-post battery.....
