Sorry I told a lie, its 3000mm on the west coast (average) and 800" at Franz Joseph Glacier. and 600" at West Egmont National Park in Taranaki, NZs average rain fall is from 600mm to 1600mm.

You guys have no idea what rain is, Try over 800" in Westland Sth Island and around 600" in the Taranaki area (where I live) we can get 60" in a couple of weeks.

Hi Steve, I'm probably giving a bit of a faulse impression here, The north does tend to be a bit wetter as we have alot of forrest areas, but the wetest place is actualy the west coast of the South...
