Putting it to good use Jake
Nice pics Jake
Yeah Jake, looks like fun there
Carriers are different too. Cannot interchange lockers or spiders IIRC. The JK and Wj versions are the D44 HD. Supposed to take more engine torque. It is the same one they put in the Viper
The JK D44 is a different D44 than the old ones. They take different gears. I wish they would fit, they are much cheaper than the gears for the older ones
One thing you might try just for giggles is swapping the inner sprockets. I have seen it work before.
It looks to me like it is not getting enough pressure from the pin to keep it locked. Maybe the teeth are rounded off by now. They should be nice and sharp. There is a spacer on the new ones, make...
You are right about that locker. What kind was it?
You and JENSSEN should get together and start a Jeep wrecking yard
That is a clean old scout
Hmm, the front shaft can cause vibes if it is bad. Like you said, pull it and go from there
In that case I think it is at the forward joint on the rear driveline. Maybe. But you have a tall lift, do you have an SYE?
241 is a great way to go if you are into rocks
Well, OK. I finally noticed you have a 242. If you have the wheels off the ground rotate the drive shafts and check the chain for slop. If you replace the chain, do the sprockets too. Otherwise...
I would suspect the U joint. If you cannot find a bad one, check your rear wheel bearings. That is a long shot since they are tapered bearings, but I have had clunks like that from wheel bearings
Ha ha, you need springs in your boots for that one :D
You are looking kind of small next to your Jeep :smiley-taunt002:
Hey James, those brackets are spot welded on. There is a special drill bit that will drill around the weld and allow you to finish removing the bracket. Check Summit Racing for the drill bit
I relocated mine even with the axle. Gets you about 3" more extended length for the droop. It was easy to do. I used a sawsall to cut off the mount even with the bottom of the tube, then used a...
Nah, they are just spot welded on anyway
Nicely done Jake
that is why I check topog maps first. I download them free and spend time studying them before going out
Did a quick search. Looks like some real nice wheeling in that area
Looks like you got some good wheeling in there
