  1. Re: Intermittent rotor/pad noise when turning

If possible take a pic of the rotor roughness. That will help with the diagnosis.
    Things to consider:
    How worn are the pads?
    Is the wear even?
What is the pad material, ie: ceramic, metallic,...

Took my grand daughter to the nearest field day location. She was somewhat skeptical at first, but after a little bribery (promise of ice cream) she sat down and started to work it. Got a half dozen...

    Re: Field day 2017

Very cool! Thanks for the post & the link. From the link I found a group setting up near me (just down the road from where I found a Kaiser collector with a running Kaiser Willys FC). I haven't been...

    DC shooting

Something in the media coverage doesn't feel right/normal (??) about the DC shooting. Other than calling the weapon a 'rifle', no further public identification has been made available. In a town...

    Re: Weird oil pressure

Swap out the oil pressure sending unit, typically $25 & 15 minutes of work. Be kind to your hands & do it with a cold engine. OPSU's get wonky with old age, and are cheap/easy to replace.

FWIW the last two lubricant classes that I attended (courtesy of Uncle Sam) Shell Rotella (diesel dino, not synth) was mentioned for older ICE (internal combustion engines) due to it's higher levels...

    Re: Peeling the onion

Plan is to swap the link asap. As for the exhaust - I dunno, I don't have to smog test it. The steering gearbox is scheduled for replacement soon-ish. R&R the shox, maybe springs, install gauges,...

    Peeling the onion

(why "peeling the onion"? Cause this project has many layers & they all make you cry!)
Started to work on my latest jeep acquisition - 89 2wd MJ. I bought it last year after the snow began and...

    Re: Compression check

Varying pressures are normal, tho your spread is a little large, and #1 is kind of on the low side. There can be big differences between cold & hot engine pressures, so warm up the engine & recheck....

    Re: compression check

I like your approach. May I suggest doing a simplified cylinder leak down test while you have the plugs out. A worn valve, or mildly scored cylinder could account for the the low #1. Put some...

    Re: Famous Ham Radio Operators.

FWIW Jimmy Buffett is a ham. I used to listen to him running a maritime net check in from down in the Carribean area around 1800cst (fall/winter, mid-90's). I was chasing a numbers station that used...

My guess is that most readers will already be familiar with the water pump on the 4.0L 6 cylinder engine. It's one of the most basic pumps out there, and replacement is very straightforward. How to...

    Re: 2000 Cherokee axle hub

Seeing that you live in the rust belt, you may want to stop by the jeep dealer & pick up the bolts that hold the hub to the knuckle. They run about $5 each. They are subject to a lot of stress and...
