Also bear in mind that all the NSS switch does is allow the coil in the starter relay to ground, thus completing the circuit. If the NSS is completely shot, then you can ground the wire permanently....

I think your neutral safety switch on the tranny is not working. You might try to remove it carefully and clean it. They are expensive to replace.
