Hard to say with the heat. Are you thinking of installing a manual switch under the hood? You can also cover them with some sort of a heat shield material and easily uncover them to use them.

I think that's a great idea. Are you going to make them flush or even receded in the hood at all? I'm just thinking about my heater hose rubs on the "frame" of the hood right there and I wouldn't...
