    Re: BEWARE of GEICO ins

I've learned, the hard way, to never settle with any insurance company on your own. Once you do, you have no recourse. Let your insurance company handle it, you might be ahead.
  3. Re: Electrical problems, hard starting, fuel pump, sputtering out - tons of problems!

If you don't use the trailer hitch, at this time. I would suggest just getting rid of that cluster %*#. Looks like someone just hacked it in. I hate those quick splice connectors, as they almost...

Re: Transfer Case Stuck Fill Plug

Personally, I would put a bit of anti-seize on any fitting going into aluminum.

    Re: Transfer case shifter

    2X on Rockfrog comment.

Concept is easy. Execution can be a bit more of a hassle. But once you have it in place, the shifting is very positive.

I used ball joint rod ends, clevis rod ends,...

Does the frequency of the vibration/growling seem to track the rpm ?

    Re: Yellowstone

IMO the North West side campground, Madison, is our favorite. Bison and Elk in fall are right there and don't be surprised if some decide to take a stroll in the campground. Stayed there at least 3...

    Re: Problems

Sounds to me that the problem is while driving and the trans is shifted (into 1st, 2nd or 3rd gears). Once, in those 3 gears and hitting 1 - 1.5k rpm is reached, the engine almost stalls....

    Re: Weak Brakes

It helped tremendously when we installed a new Master Clutch cylinder, in my sons pickup. At the time he was in a auto shop class and they couldn't get bleed the air out of the system. The master...

    Re: Weak Brakes

That pressure bleeder would have made about a 1/2 hour job of it. Just saying. It's really nothing more than a garden sprayer with a cap to allow attaching to the master cylinder, along with a...

    Re: Help With Power Locks

Not real familiar with that version of the system, but the latter systems like the 2000 had issues with the wires breaking between the chassis and the doors. You may have to splice in new wires, as...

My sons friend is living in a room above the garage. Lots of damage to his motorcycles and cars.

    Good Luck to all.
  18. Re: Newbie - help figure out issues, starting problems, exhaust leak, carburetor

Find a buddy that has worked on engines. Have him help pull the top end of the 2.5 apart to see if, and what, may be the problem with the engine. Get some experience in the process. Priceless !

    Re: Rear-hatch wiring?

I don't have a '87 Manual, but do have a '89. The problem with your request for wiring diagrams is that each individual system would have it's own diagram. As a result, the Rear Window Defroster is...

  21. Re: Newbie - help figure out issues, starting problems, exhaust leak, carburetor

The lines going to the exhaust should be for a air pump. Does yours still have the air pump installed ? The air pump would be belt driven and on the front of the engine. It would look like this :...
  22. Re: Newbie - help figure out issues, starting problems, exhaust leak, carburetor

Given the age of your XJ, the vacuum diagram sticker (probably on the drivers side fire wall) may not be legible anymore, if it is even there. But you should be able to find one somewhere online. ...
