I had a 96 a few years back with S10 springs in the back and I thought that they rode a little stiff but did fine when a toolbox and wheelin' gear was thrown in to add a little weight. Had Ford F150 coils in the front on that Jeep. Last time I spoke to the current owner he had not altered the suspension. It is his hunting vehicle.

how stiff were the ford coils did they flex at all?

They were very stiff. I don't think it felt like there was any spring there at all. Like I had replaced the springs with a steel fire extinguisher cylinder.

I am using leafs from a '73-'87 1/2 4x4 pick-up. I have not got them together yet cause I can't get the damn center holes drilled open to 3/8". But all you need is something with arch & weight capacity. Any leafs will work as long as they are 2 1/2" wide.

Why? That is what I have always done. I all ways rig the leafs and get lift springs for the front. Try finding them used. alot of the lift springs are so big and thick they hardly ever sag. I just got he front CA's and 6.5" springs for Big Red for $180 they are Rusty's.

You can get some rusty's springs for $99 a pair. They aren't THE BEST springs but neither are s-10 leaf springs. :) They are sure a heckuva lot better than ford springs.

Why would you want to buy anything that is PRE-RUSTED? :rotfl2:
