As many of you know, my son Paul and I belong to a military vehicle group called National Recon Group, (NRG). It is an active group of vets mostly with a love for old military vehicles and unlike many, these are not trailer queens. They allow restorations like ours without original engines etc. Their motto is: How do you spot a fellow NRG member?.........by the mud on their tires.

Today we went to an event called Camp Far View, held on 1200 acres of private land. We couldn't take the Mighty Mite because we might have trashed the engine last time out. I am giving Paul the "privilege" of starting it and throwing the rod. But may be that $400 water pump too he thinks. But anyway, it will be a while before we take it to an event. However, the wife and I went today for the afternoon. When we got there, there was a camp set up that was a combination of military style tents and a few modern ones.

The star of the show is always the half track.

This one is licensed and has about 2000 street miles. The wife wants one. She wants to drive one to town. I told her they come in two basic configurations. The one like this with a winch on the front and one with a spring mounted roller on the front designed for crashing rock walls and crushing vehicles and such. She wants the one with the roller. Something about people giving her attitude ...

We went to the "firing range" and shot a few rounds in semi auto and auto weapons.

I was thinking you could give that MUTT a run for its money. They were interested in the Cohassett road area. We might organize a run up there.
