so, I searched the forums here but couldn't find anything. What year did the XJ's start getting antilock brakes? My build sheet doesn't reference them at all but I have all the fuse/relay sockets on mine and it makes me wonder. 99 XJ 2WD, NO ABS components or computers that i could find. Hard lines go from master cylinder to proportioning valve then down frame......anything weird here?

Nope my 01 doesnt have ABS. You have 8.25 rear end?

i do and come to find out the 97+'s with ABS have D35's correct me if i am wrong. But i have no prob with it ABS just makes brakes more expensive and gives ya more problems.

I found references to ABS on Cherokees back to 1990.

Yeah I think it's weird that you have the fuse and relay. Did you buy your XJ new?

kmanxj; Yep I heard that if you have ABS you have a Dana 35 on the 97+

My 98 does not.

I was disappointed, very disappointed, that my 98 didn't come with anti-lock brakes, until I learned if it had I would have had a Dana 35 rear. So that would have been something else that I would have had to fix. Probably would have a Dana 44 in there right now.

I just got it last week. it has the 8.25 corporate axle in it. No fuse or relay, just the wiring , sockets in fuse panel, etc which got me wondering.

ABS Started in 1990 and has several iterations since the first Bendix setup. Generally if you have a 8.25 Chryco rear differential then you do NOT have ABS. It was only adaptable to the D35 rear differentials.
