MY name is Jeff Dietz from Vancouver Washington. I do something a little different with my XJ. I chase rally cars through the woods. I am the sweep captain for the Oregon Rally Group. My team covers all stage rallys from Canada to California To Idaho. WE are the firemen and the medics. so if someone goes off we are within reach to save them. Besides that I like shooting , hunting , camping and fishing. Here are some pics if i can get this to work.http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac198/ke7hit/rallypics031.jpg

Great pictures Jeff, thanks!

Ok I'm sure everyone asks, what are the cables running from the top to the front bumper and are they attached to the flux capacitor? :D

BTW, I came really close to buying that exact front bumper. Muddy like.

Welcome from the UK dude! :D

Great XJ and great job!

If I'm not mistaken, those cables from the front of the bumper to the roof line are to push overhanging branches etc away to avoid damage to the windshield.

The cables are called limb risers, Here in the northwest the rallycars race in heavly wooded logging roads. When the cars come through they ditchhook ( this is where they put thier inside front tire over the cliff or inside the ditch on the inside of the apex. the inside of the tire grabs and slingshots them out of the corner) This moves the earth and after 40 to 50 competitors the stage looks like a banked nascar track. When i follow the racing groove my XJ is taller and since the shorter cars have carved away the bank that leaves alot of braches for me to hit at 40 to 50 mph, with the limb risors the branches pop over and i dont have to replace anymore windshields. I know they look funny to most, but they work.

Yes there is alot of stuff ive done to the rig over the years. nothing magor to the engine yet. But iam going to build a stroker later this year. I did swap gears and added a limited slip in the rear, and did a disc brake conversion on the rear. carbon metalic pads all the way around with aftermarket rotors. carbons are what the cops use...no fade....

The bumber came from my friends at JCR OFFROAD and my truck has sported the bumper for sale on thier website for a number of years, wich i always though that was cool.

I looked at the picture of your rig many many times. When I saw it here it reminded me of that rig, but I didn't know it was the same one. Yep your XJ almost sold them a bumper to me. I wound up having a custom made with several of the aspects of the JCR in the design.

I think i like your bumper better than mine.. although mine has proven to be tough as nails. even hit a deer without any damage. and pulled alot of racecars up from clifs..

Thanks, but I'm sure you can see your bumper in the design. I had a chance to have one built just like I drew it, so I jumped at the chance.

I still live in the wilds of Oregon as well.

Mine might not be as pretty or as powerful, they are still very functional ;)

Thats funny all my hunting buddies are law types or meds and i have the smallest collection. The 50 is a armalite and can be had for 5 grand it weighs 36lbs, and is easy to shoot. from the factory it comes with ear plugs and a bottle of exedrin! My ar10 is also an armalite and they are fine guns.

That is very strange? I have never owned a armalite but have heard very good things about them.

I think the the ear plugs and the asprin are meant to be in good humer from the manufacture. it is kind of a novelty piece. I know that when we found the asprin we laughed like heck. of course all my buddies had to be there for the unveiling. it cost 5 dollars a round.

Ita a funny story but turned out to be one hell of a dog. He is half redbone coon hound and halve german shorthair. We went camping and left him on his own all weekend and he could track and find my daughter on the quad from a mile away and swims allday long. he gets exited when we shoot and has nice webs. he is 5.5 months old and soon he leaves for school. we got lucky

I was very close to picking up a Bushmaster AR15 type at a gun show when I saw the AK47 for $305. I just couldn't bring myself to spend 3 times more for the Bushmaster.
