It's an 88 Limited with 177,000. Stole this one last week for $600. It had been sitting for almost 3 years. Had to replace starter and fuel pump, then drove it home!
Thinking Santa needs to bring lift parts!

When you sit in Santa's lap, be sure to say please and that you have been good all year.

Nice score. Good luck on your build.

I bought it basically to build me a hunting/rednecking vehicle. I've already scored a brush guard waiting for installation, planning on camo paint, at least 3" lift to start. I'm just driving it right now to see what else breaks. Sitting for three years is never good for any vehicle. Been fixing all kinds of vacuum lines, almost all fluids were low/noj-existent.Had to re=assemble all the panels in the rear. PO had taken it all apart when he cleared out his stereo equipment. The tires were flat spotted and wouldn't hold air, so I found these 235 16's on Craigslist for $40 with at about 1/2 tread. They'll do for now. So that's where I'm at and where I'm headed.

How do the wheel bearing assemblies sound?

So far so good. It's got some funky sounds occasionally, and a few leaks, but I'm slowly tracking em down. What can you expect for $600 and 178,000 miles?!

I think it looks great. It has less miles than my '95!

I love the steering wheels in those older XJ's.

new problem #1...
Sprung a pinhole leak in the overflow tank on the way deer hunting Friday. Did a little epoxy fix, got a new aftermarket on the way. Did get some good news. Guy I bought it from called and said he found the original honeycomb wheels in his basement. Might as well go get 'em.

well Tell ya what I'll make a donation to your cause... you pay for shipping and Ill send you some front 3 inch spacers to get you ''up'' then all you need is some generic blocks for the rear and new shocks! you can run 31's with that! and it will look good here is mine on 3 with 31's
not my current jeep but my first XJ
http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd107/basivey/88xj.jpg
and heres my current one with 31's
http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd107/basivey/07-18-08_2130.jpg
and same lift with 33's and trimming
http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd107/basivey/09-12-08_1142.jpg
so if your ready to cut into the body then you can go like this last one and have GREAT clearance on a really tight budget!
