Hi all, I'm new here. Here is a pic of one of my jeeps

http://www.freeimagehosting.net/t/d2e15.jpg (http://www.freeimagehosting.net/d2e15)

It's an 89 MJ. Has no lift at all with 285-75-16 tires on black rock 16" wheels.

Glad you joined. Looks like this one gets used for what it was intended.

Is that a cage in the bed or a rack of some sort?

89 MJ - The rack is simply bolted to the bed. When I lived in Los Angeles a few years ago, I needed a work truck and bought the MJ. I needed a latter rack but wanted something unique so this is what came out. It's a 2 piece deal, the rear bar is removable so I can haul a mower or my ATV in the back. When the back piece is on and I lay a ladder on top there is a slight downward pitch to the rear is because I didn't want the rack to sit higher than the roof, but I needed long objects to clear the roof (i.e. ladders, pipe, etc), so I pitched it downward at the rear. The tubing is 2" square with .092 wall. Not roll cage strength in my book, but then again I would have tied it to the frame if that was the point. The tubing Cost $80 and about $20 for paint and hardware to mount the thing

Here are some more pics (before the 33's)

Just realized that I have very few pics of my other 2 jeeps. The MJ is the daily driver right now so it gets all the camera time, but if one of the other jeeps goes missing I'm gonna have to hire a sketch artist....

Thanks for your kind words all

SWEET! I've been looking at an MJ that's for sale here. Just haven't gone ahead and bought it. I like your rack idea unobtrusive and gets the job done.

LOL it sure does. I'm on the east coast now, so it won't be long before I'm welding in new floor pans :D

Pull the rugs and coat the floor pans now with Rustoleum and then with bedliner. It will save you replacing the pans in a few years.

Nice truck, But how bad do the tires rub?

Nice truck, But how bad do the tires rub?

I cut a lot of fender out, so they only rub at full turn. In stock form there is only about 2" of upward travel before the bumpstops. It doesn't rub except when wheels are turned and then only rubs on the back of the fusebox (where your left foot is) If I put an extra coil isolator or two on top of the coils it would clear I think. The MJ doesn't get wheeled hard. It's my work truck and my DD. There is slight rubbing but its not as bad as you would think. Part of the reason is that the 285-75-16's are not as wide as 33x12.50x15's. My 96 XJ is sitting at 5.5" of lift, still with stock flares, and it rubs at full turn as well, but only due to the flares.

Yes, I agree. I have 2 XJ's and the MJ which is the only one left with carpet. Pulling it is on the list of things to do. :D I remember how the other jeeps looked when I pulled the carpet :timeout:
