I have read that you can do this with a blowdryer, is that true? Also what can I expect to find underneith the mouldings? Reason I ask is mine were dinged before I bought the Jeep, and the dings are turning a whiteish color. If I remove them will there be a obvious difference in the paint, and would it just be better to leave them on?

I pulled mine, heat em up and pull. The 2 sided tape sucks to get off. My paint was a slightly different underneath. Waxed it well and and after a couple of weeks couldnt tell.

Appreciate the response Jeff! I knew you had removed your's.

FWIW, I've found the WD-40 is great for removing the sticky goo left after removing stickers and such. Never has harmed the paint.

Hold on to that trim. Someone may want it.

3M adhesive remover makes short work of that 2 sided tape. It's good for cleaning up all kinds of stuff, I always have some of it around. Save the moldings! I may need one, I'll check later this morning when I give mine it's Saturday bath!:cool0010::cool0010:

I'm happy to hear everyone else's experience with this has gone well. I have a '93 Cherokee Country and I've removed the "wood" paneling along the bottom and have painted the driver's side black. I'm in the process of doing the passenger side now, but it is giving me hell. I've used almost an entire can of 3M adhesive remover and I've only managed to remove ALL of the tape on one door.

If the 3-M adhesive remover does'nt work try "GOOF OFF" found in the paint departments of Lowe's, Home Depot and even Wal-Mart.

I pulled mine off with my bare hands. It left a bunch of the 2 sided tape, but I got one of the 3M Adhesive removal wheels ($15 at Amazon) that you put in a drill and it took it right off. Just have to make sure that you don't let it sit in one place too long cause it does get very hot.

And now that my painted flares are gone, I really want to paint that lower accent line section black. It would look reaaaaally good.

I ended up getting it done finally. A mix of WD-40 and the 3M stuff worked pretty well.
