ok i am in the process of doing a f/r swap and using either ranger 4" lift springs or 79 bronco spring for the new front springs...but they are all the same height....the zj has 9 wraps and the fords have 11 wraps each.is this going to lift it or do i need to figure something else out? its a 5.2 zj....
here are the springs.....

Those will lift it. But it will ride stiff as hell

You'll gain lift from those springs due to lack of compression that the ZJ spring offers. As Jim said, your ride quality will suffer, but you'll gain an inch or 2".

I have to say that I agree with what these guys have said on the ride quality.. How much lift are you looking to get to on your ZJ??

The question is, what is a good ride and what is good flex. Good flex to me is stuffing the tires up into the fender. But I have found with my own shyjacker coils that what they call good flex is not so good. The issue is spring rate. The ranger spring you show is the stiffest of the three due to wire size and coil radius. The next is the 79 bronco spring which is designed for a rig that weighs almost twice as much as a ZJ, and just about everyone that uses those coils complains of a very stiff ride. It might be tolerable on the highway, but off road you will not like it. Your stock spring rate is in the neighborhood of 190# per inch. I am running some 230# Rubicon Express coils currently which are passable. The skyjackers were in the 300# range and too stiff for my purposes. But is rode well on the highway and cornered very well.

I like my Rough County lift. I think it has good ride and good flex, but really I have NOTHING to compare it with.

I keep hearing that Old Man and Rubicon Express have nice rides and good flex. Better than Rough Country. I'll never know, and I'm fine with that. :D

lucasp said that it will stuff a tire nicely...here i will post his pm to me...

"They are skyjacker springs. I don't remember the part number. I had to modify the springs to fit around the bumpstops on the jeep. All I did was heat up the pigtails on the springs and open them up a bit. Took me about 10 minutes.

The ride is ok. I'm coming off a straight axle ranger with 37's and a v8. So I'd say it rides nice enough for me to be happy with it as my daily driver. I finally got new shocks and they made the ride so much better. I went with bilsteins. It doesn't ride as good as stock but I'm ok with that. I would recommend getting track bars. I tore up an old set of tires pretty quick.

I'm on 33's and I don't have any problems stuffing my tires. I rub in the rear but my coils are starting to sag. I'm at 4.5 up front and only 3.5 in the rear. "

Can't wait to see some pics of that bad boy lifted!! I know that the Rubicon Express and the Rough Country lifts are awesome lifts on any Jeep especially the ZJ's.. When I was looking for a Jeep to purchase I was looking for a ZJ really badly, and planned to do the IRO lift kits for mine... I think all of the GC's look good lifted and some nice beefy tires installed..

finally found out yesterday that I have the OME 3" lift on my WJ, I sorta figured it was RC or OME since the ride is very nice and the flex is pretty darn good too. I will be going to Andy for some short arms though just for my peace of mind. I have also been eyeballing the RC 4" lift for the WJ. But that will be way down the road for now.
