Hi,

After moving to 245/75/16 I had no space for the spare wheel in the XJ.
I thought about building something that will be supported by the rear bumper, but since I'm using the rear door on daily basis, I decided to go with the roof solution.
The pictures here are from the "first version", since then I added a fuel tank and toolbox and soon there will be a water tank there too.

Hi,

Thank you guys, I had a crazy day yesterday so I didn't respond.
Anyway, there is no inner mounts. in the first picture you can see the bolt that is being connected to the original rack.
The disc is being inserted to the inner side of the original rack rail.
8 bolts like that hold it in place.
I'm about to add one more rail to the water tank...
I'll attached pictures when I'll do it (currently I can not work, my left hand is a little injured...)

Take care of that left hand, it is the only one you have.

The type of wheeling you are doing is called Overland here. Most of our trips are day runs or we stay at regular camp grounds. I have included a couple of links you might find interesting.

Thank you :-)
4.3LXJ, I loved your links, I really hope I'll find the time and budget to go wheeling outside of Israel...
