I recognize those rock walls. Were you on the old Humbolt Trail?

Yes. I have never played up there. I have followed it though. The history of that is that this was the original Humbolt Road. It was hand built by the Indians that worked for Gen. Bidwell. Those rock fences were built by them 150 years ago. The ruts you see in the hard pan were made by steel wagon rims from stage coaches, ouch what a rough ride, and freight wagons. That road went all the way to the mine fields in Idaho. There is a book about it that is out of print. It would be fun to follow it all the way there. Another fun one would to follow the Ponderosa Way. Part of it up Cohasset Rd. But that one is 600 mi long. I have looked at on line maps and found parts of it down as far as Placerville.

I already talked to Mark about this. My wife and I will be going camping Aug 25-28. That is Thurs - Sun. We will be camping at Big Bend Camp Ground on the South Fork of the Yuba River just off I80. This is about three miles from the trail head to the Fordyce Creek trail. There are several trails there that range from bumpy to the famous Fordyce Creek trail. We will wheel and sight see as we go. You all are invited to come join the fun. But if you don't come, you will miss some great wheeling and some fishing if you want also. We will be going up Signal Peak trail. You can take this trail with a 3' lift and open diffs. A completely stock rig might be pushing it, but probably can be done. We will also be going to Eagle Lakes. It can be done with a 3" lift and no lockers accept for a section of stair step granite. There is a bypass for this area, but that is a challenge also. At one of the lakes there is a floating island consisting of sundews, a carnivorous plant. I will harvest some for a friend of mine. It is truly a unique experience being on it if we can still get to it. On Sunday we plan on coming out on the Grouse Ridge Trail and continuing to Bowman Lake where we will get on the Heness Pass Highway and go through North Bloomfield, a real Ghost Town preserved by the state.

Been working on he Jeep. Haven't disabled it yet, but it will be soon. Getting ready for the big trip. Putting in a Taurus fan, just finishing up the new shroud tonight, new to me spare tire carrier, for that flat I don't want. Tomorrow or the next day I will be cutting off the track bar bracket and making a new one for some beef. I am tired of patching up the old one. Also super beefy lower links and if I get time welding up a bracket for the new full length top link so I have a real three link instead of the pseudo three link I have now. Paul is talking about coming along, so I might have to have HUMWEE running also.

Yeah, been busy with the place and HUM WEE too. I need to get it ready for the trip so we can flat tow it up there. I haven't disabled the Jeep yet, but this next week I will start on it. Can't wait for a true three link on the front.
