I would like to get some input on putting 33 12.50s on 15 x 8 wheels. I found a great deal on a set of wheels but they are 8 inch instead of the 10 that i planned on buying.

12.50 tires fit great on an 8" wheel. Thats what I am running. Plus with the 8" wheel the tire has less chance of popping the bead off the rim as opposed to a 10" rim.

4.5" backspacing?

4.5 might lead to a little rubbing, Jim is the right guy to answer this one.

I would tend to look at 4.0 to 3.75 myself for that sort of set up, push the tires out of the wheel wells a little and gain some inside clearance. At least that would be my reasoning on backspacing however, that would also require higher fender trimming I think.

32x11.5x15 on 10x15 with 3.75" backspace no rub. I'm hoping the same will be true with 33x12.5x15 tires.

4.5" backspacing is cutting it close. Would likely rub hard on the inside when making tight turns. I run a 4" backspace and have no issues.

Personally I like the tires sticking out, which they really do on my Jeep. I went with the 10x15 wheels because I read that they are less likely to rub (I didn't understand why) plus I wanted a wheel that was closer to the width of the tire. My long term plan was to go to 12.5" tires.

When it rained out (wow that's right it used to rain here) they would really throw a spray, especially noticeable when turning.

That all went away when I put on the Bushwackers.

Tony they don't rub because, the side wall is allowed to stand taller with the wider rim than if you had narrower rims (side wall pooch)
