View Full Version : The jeep genie visits you and gives you one wish, what would you want?

Ok folks, I'm really really bored at work and when this happens it allows me time to let the brain get me into trouble. I've been toying with the idea of doing a write up for a grant from the feds for some time now. They seem to be willing to give money to folks that have good ideas for a small business but don't have the funds. So I've been thinking (always dangerous) and I want some ideas from everyone. Here's my big question: If you could have a custom fabricator make one part for your jeep, what would it be?

My first thought was: Custom Bracket to move the alternator up top and the aircon compressor down so that there was enough room for the alt. and two compressors one for aircon and one for on board air. This would of course mean moving the battery tray.

My second thought was: Bolt in new lower front cross member to allow for less obtrusive mounting of a front winch. This would allow better approach angle but still have a front winch and bumper.

So, here's the Jeep Genie at your door, ready to custom fabricate, what have you always wanted but have never been able to find in the current market place? and just for fun, how much would you be willing and able to spend for said goodie?

This is just an exercise at the moment but if I swing everything the right way, well that could change a lot of things in my life and my status here.

How about all the parts to finish my build? Not sure one wish would cover it.

I got to thinking about this. It is more like the 12 days of Christmas

starting with day 8

8 rear link brackets
7 links with rod ends and bushings
6 high steering studs
5 front link brackets
4 coil overs
3 aluminum tie rods
2 six shooter high steer arms
1 hydro ram

And you can have the partridge in the pear tree

good wish:D but not what the Jeep Genie is about, one part that isn't manufactured at this time. That's what the Genie is meaning.. you never know, some good ideas and some luck at the door of the grant money pixies and it could come true. OH, And I'm not sure any of us could ever call a build finished without winning the lottery twice.

Hmmmm, and here I would have thought your's would have been "parts that don't reqire an arm, leg and testicle for down payment. :D

Front winchbar sealed as an air tank that also forms part of a full exo cage

I would have to go with an EXO skelton. I seem to be laying mine on it's side lately.

An electronic device that would allow me to change the mass of the vehicle. More/Normal/Less :rolleye0012:

Off the top of my head, i'd say a bolt in rear 4 link coil suspension that utilizes the stock brackets on a TJ rearend, or any other rearend that is coil spring.

Full Frame.

Swap existing parts over to new frame.

Go to town with a spot weld bit to remove uni-box frame

Bolt body on full frame.

I'm actually looking at this idea of a replacement frame, then we could have body lifts to go with the suspension lift.

would you want this with coil overs? or just coil springs and shocks?

Coil springs and shocks would make it cheaper. And I'm cheap.

I would wish that nothing ever wore out or ran out like a video game XJ. Then I could use all the $$ I save on fuel and maintenance to build the ultimate XJ.
